Last night’s art show went well, even though I had to leaveafter the first two hours. I send apologizes to those who arrived to support meand I wasn’t there. I had to return homebecause my fiancée had surgery two days ago and I didn’t have anyone to watchover her and she couldn’t be left alone. Horse Race and Heart Beat

Horse Race and Heart Beat Fri, 27th January, 2012

My last entry was on the 23rd, three days ago; I apologize for not doing as I stated I was going to do and posting daily before the show this Saturday January 28th, 2012. My fiancée went into the hospital yesterday to have a surgery and have a large growth removed. We spent the last three days going to doctors’ appointments and preparing for her surgery. Yesterday (the 26th), I spent all day at the hospital and getting her home and safe, watching over her as she was pretty drugged up.

My posts on the 21st and 23rd covered two of the four pictures that will be on exhibit tomorrow. Today I will cover the other two abstract photos that will be on exhibit, which are “Horse Race” and “Heart Beat”. Plus, to make up for the lack of posting the last few days, I will cover a little bit more about painting with light.

I covered what was needed for painting with light in my entry on the 23rd, but here is a brief reminder: a camera that is capable of long exposures, a nice tripod, a flash light (or some sort of light source), and a dark location. (Your dark location could be as simple as a dark room in your home where the curtains have been drawn and lights have been shut off.)

There are some different techniques to do light painting, but in this blog I'll be covering some abstract light painting. With the abstract technique there are two different types of light sources, while the light source lights up it is the human who is doing the painting by moving the object. Then there is the technique where the light source object is mechanically moved but the light source itself is doing the painting.

To explain these abstract techniques I will use some of my own photos that were entered in the up-coming Cosmopolitan Art Gallery show, in honor of Jackson Pollock, infamous international abstract painter. As described in my entry on the 23rd, the light source used for “Horse Race” is being created by moving cars passing by my own car. It is true that the light source is an object (the head and tail lights of the car) which is being moved mechanically by their car, but the car could not move without the human who is driving the car in the first place. Plus, as I explained I also had control of my camera and the slight shake of my camera while taking the picture, causing the light to paint across my “film.”

The third abstract photograph and fourth abstract picture that will be exhibited tomorrow night is “Heart Beat”. With this photograph, I used the mechanical technique of light painting. I had my camera on a tripod while city workers shot the fireworks off with large cannons into the dark sky (my dark space). I snapped pictures of the fireworks as they blasted apart and formed shapes. The blast was caused by large mechanical cannon being ignited with black gun powder and then the fireworks exploding before my lens. There was no shaking of my camera to cause human painting so the firework colors and explosion caused the painting to happen in mere moments upon the “film.” Then, like the other photos, I boosted brightness and contrast in Photoshop before printing “Heart Beat."

But, remember, along with the different techniques there is exposure time and f-stops to set in order to know how much light to let in the camera to get the picture I want. It is having the knowledge of things like when I want to use the tripod and when I don’t, or when I want to paint with the camera or when I want the camera to allow the light source to do the painting.

My last post discussed “A Different View” my Computer Graphic and what inspired its’ creation, along with what is Abstract art. Today I am going to discuss my other technique that was accepted into the Cosmopolitan Art Gallery’s 3rd Annual Jackson Pollock Abstract Art Show, “Distraction 003” on January 28th, 2012 at 8pm.

What is this other technique? It is Abstract Photography created by painting with light. Now there are many ways to paint with light, but I am going to discuss capturing light in an abstract manner for this post.Painting with light is a fun technique that gives great vibrant colorful results. It is called painting with light because this is what you are actually doing while taking the shot – painting with light.

What is needed for painting with light is a camera that is capable of long exposures, a nice tripod, A flash light (or some sort of light source), and a dark location.My entry “4th of July” light source was a ball that light up when it was squeezed and flashed. My dark source was dark area outside where there wasn’t any street lights, and there wasn’t any chance of a car coming by to “paint its’ head lights” across my picture. Then I processed it some more, (brightness/contrast etc), in Photoshop and Paintshop pro.

However, your dark location could also be in your home, such as a dark room where the curtains have been drawn and lights have been drawn.

With “4th of July” The light source itself did the painting. As my daughter spun it I shot the picture capturing the light spinning in the dark; capturing the spirit of “4th of July” in the colors and motion of that object. Americans have enjoyed and been excited about the noise and colors of fireworks every since sometime in the 13th century; with this in mind I processed “4th of July”, so that its’ colors are bursting out of the black back ground with vibrate colors of red and blue the colors of Independence Day celebration.

What is Abstract Art

Abstractart uses a visual language of form, color and line to create a compositionwhich departs from reality within degrees of imagery and may exist with adegree of independence from visual references with in the world. This departure from accurate representationcan be only slight, partial, or it can be total and complete.

Westernart came from the Renaissance up to the middle of the 19^th century,underpinned by the logic of perspective and attempt to reproduce any illusionof visible reality. I had a professor incollege that would tell me I needed to look at reality and the world more,instead of getting lost in the pictures in my head. Yet, to me, I would question always isn’tthat where some abstract pictures come from that are totally and completely departedfrom reality.

Fourof my abstract pieces are being showcased in The Cosmopolitan Art Gallery 3^rdAnnual Jackson Pollock Abstract Art Show, “Distraction 003”, January 28^th,2012 at 8pm. We are going to gather and celebrate Jackson Pollock’s 100^thbirthday by enjoying different styles of abstract work, music, food, anddrink. JacksonPollock was known for the radical poured, or "drip" technique, which I have also heard it be called the Splatter technique. During his time it was also referredto as “action painting”. Myself I do twodifferent styles of abstract work. I doabstract photography where I paint with light and I do computer graphics whereI paint on the computer screen and create a picture on the computer screen thenprint it out as fine art prints.

Inthe January 28^th art exhibit at The Cosmopolitan Art Gallery I willbe exhibiting three of my abstract photography, light paintings, and one of mycomputer graphics.

Thecomputer graphic is “A Different View”, 11x14 – limited addition fine art print– 4 out of 100. I originally created “A Different View” in 1999 when I startedmy transition journey. Depending on the point of view, in which you view thisprint there is a different but similar look to this print, which is partly wherethe name came from.

Thisdifferent view is partially because of the color scheme, yet it really is thesame because of the shape and size. Itis a different take on the Yin and Yang, balance within and without. Two spirit tale, coming together of twohalves to make one.

Trinton Garrett’s Multi Media Art Accepted into Cosmopolitan Art Gallery’s Jackson Pollack inspired exhibit.

Buffalo, NY January 21, 2012 - The Cosmopolitan Art Gallery selected three of Trinton Garrett’s abstract photography pieces and one computer graphic to be exhibited at their 3rd Annual Jackson Pollock inspired, "Distractions 003", art exhibit on January 28th, 2012 at 8pm. This event is free and open to the public. The Gallery is located at 413 Genesee Street, Buffalo, NY 14204. You can reach them by phone at (716) 856-6000.

Jackson Pollock was an American painter who was very influential in the abstract expressionist movement. Garrett’s real time images which he transforms to express the emotions of the human heart were deemed a perfect fit for the Pollock Exhibition’s dedication. Other artists will be displayed along with an unconfirmed distant relative of Pollock, DJ Chris Pollock from Syracuse NY, aka DJ Disko Berserker.

Garrett is the owner of TrinityHawk Photography, a fully functioning art and portrait studio located in Downtown Buffalo, NY. Garrett’s pieces at the Pollock Exhibit, as well as those displayed in his studio, are available for purchase.

Hello Hawk Nest followers:

I do apologize for such a long pause there has been some health issues in my family that I am in the middle of taking care of, I know this isn't an excuse, so I do apologize for allowing my blog to slide. I have some exciting news, however, to share with you.

I am working with a marketing agent who will be helping me to get things back on track with my blog and my website marketing (http://www.trinityhawk.com), which has already had some changes. So, I can concentrate on those things that I need to concentrate on and that is taking pictures and publishing books. I have three shoots in the near future so look for some sneak peeks at the editing sessions from those shoots.

I am in the process of planning a Multi Media art show at the end of March. I don't have a lot of details on this YET, as I get the details you will know them too. Right now I do know it is going to be held at the gallery below where my studio is: 515 Main (St)udios (http://nomadbuffalo.com/515/).

TrinityHawk Photography has always submitted work to two other art exhibits, One s at the Cosmopoliton Art Gallery on Genesee St in Buffalo. They are celebrating Artist Jackson Pollock 100th Birthday on 1/28th so I should be hearing something soon. When I do you will. The other one is at the 464 Art Gallery (http://www.wise-arts.com/464.html) who is celebrating their third year in operation and was looking for submissions in theme of three. I submitted three photographs that my Facebook friends and fans voted on and are titled "Sideshow Freaks" as a whole, but the individual pieces are "Fire Breather" - "Dragon Breather" - and "Glass Gnasher" I am awaiting word if I have been excepted for the show. Again, I will let you know as soon as I know.

E-book vs Hard Cover

Today has been spent downloading books to my nook, researching subjects that are of interest to my business and to me as far as publishing my books and art. So, I thought I would bring up a subject that my partner and I discussed the other day and see how many of you who follow my blog have an opinion on self publishing or even e-book publishing.

I had been told by mentors in the field of writing that it isn't a good thing to be self published. That once you get self published, other publishers and agents won't look at you, because they won't put money out on someone who is welling to put money out on themselves to publish their own work. For a couple of reasons; the biggest reason is 1. if you feel that badly about your work that no one else will look twice at it and want to put money out to represent it, and publish it, then why should we the publishers of the world look your way and give your book a second glace? There are many other books out here to look at, and give our attention to."

Reason 2. If you are welling to put that much money out on publishing your own book, why should someone else be welling to put money out to advertise, publish, etc. Why should they put the effort into your book that you are obviously already doing?

Now for e-books - yes e-books are becoming more and more popular (heck I have a nook color myself). But, I have my own library in my apartment. It is said that e-books are easier to get published then soft/hard cover books. Are you looking for easy publishing or quality publishing? easy publishing or numbers of sells to quality readers who will give your book good review? I personally wouldn't mind having the books I am working on published in e-book form but I think my personal choice would be to have them published in soft cover format FIRST by a publishing house, and not self published in e-book format, until they are established as well selling books.

What would your choice be?

Free Fridays - I just found this on Barnes and Nobles blog..they actually suggest free books for Nook and Nook color download (I also now have the free Nook app for my PC (which they also have the free nook app for the mac and android downloads). This way you can start reading a book on your android phone on the bus, or doctors office then switch to your lap top at home or in your office and catch the last few pages in bed before going to sleep. Just what we Nook crazed people need! Go have a look, check out the past Free Fridays and get some free books, I know I did!

I just saw a flyer posted on the bus station I was standing at that remind me of a lesson I learned as as a child. An elder told me when the tree life when the tree of life gets burden down within its branches with to much of life's negative stuff, don't cut the whole tree down, instead when the tree of life gets burden down within its branches with to much of life's negative stuff, don't cut the whole tree down, instead prune the branches out that are no longer needed, or wanted that way your tree of life down. This will make it stronger and will make it grow make it grow bigger and stronger each day. Instead of killing the whole tree by chopping it all down.

Each morning for as long as I could believe my mother would wake up, sit at the dining room table and do what she called her devotional. This consisted of having her morning coffee, three cookies, and reading a page or two of spiritual scriptures - sometimes it would be from the bible, sometimes from a daily readier (generally she would read from a daily readier along with another spiritual book), plus she would read from a book about Buddhism, Hinduism, some other form of spiritualism, or it may of just been a "self help" book, such as "All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten. Uncommon Thoughts on Common Things".

I know she would also meditate during this time, because we were not to make a lot of noise around her or bother her with questions or "mom, mom" pestering. I also remember never really taking much heed in this, except to ever so often walking by after her "me time" and looking at the books she was studying at the time and "wondering" about them. Because, I knew at some point I would get some knowledge from them bestowed on me during my life, or my mentoring sessions on spirituality. You see my mother was my mentor in all things spiritual, and one of my greatest mentors in life, if I had any questions she was the one I would go to with them. I knew she would always be ready and waiting to answer them the best she could, with the greatest patience any human could bestow on another person.

As I have gotten older, I found myself studying religions and spirituality in school. Plus, now that my mother has been passed for 3 years now, and my daughter has grown into an adult, I have finding myself falling into much the same habit of daily reading. Not really in the same manner as my mother did, I don't get up in the morning, have my coffee, eat cookies and do my meditation over a devotional reading. But, I do get up in the morning, have my coffee, check my Facebook and other social sites, check my emails. Then I do some reading of different sites that I have book marked for devotional purposes and read a page or two on a couple of books I am reading for devotional and spiritual purposes. Upon which time I meditate on what it is I am taking in, and what is going on in my life.

I know my meditation and devotional time isn't perfect, and could be more "devoted". I keep working on it as many of us work on our lives to devote them to the higher power and her/his desires. I keep my mom's daily devotional time in my mind's eye and focus on how focused she was and how truly devoted she was to each and every day - and will one day become as devoted as she was.

This weekend we were reorganizing and sorting books and I found mom's old copy of; "All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten. Uncommon Thoughts on Common Things", I sat down and was reading through the first through pages, and smiled because right there in the first couple of pages were the words my mom told me just a few years before she passed; "All we really know, that has any meaningfulness in life- that isn't all that complicated. You already know it, you learned it in Kindergarten. Wisdom started when you were first born, it just grows with life experiences, but all you really need to know about how to live and get through life, you learned in Kindergarten.

Share everything, Play fair, Don't hit people (keep your hands to yourself), Put things back where you found them), Clean up your own messes, Don't take things that aren't yours (with out permission), Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody, Wash your hands before you eat and after you go to the bathroom, Flush and be respectful of other's bathrooms, Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you, Live a balanced life, learn - think- Draw - paint-sing-dance-play- and work some every day. Plus don't ever forget to take a nap in the afternoons. When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and stick together.

Be aware of wonder.

Remember the little seed in the styrofoam cup: The roots go down and the plant goes up and no body really knows how or why but we are all like that!

Goldfish, hamsters, and white mice - even the little seed in the styrofoam cup all die, So do we.

The biggest thing of all, remember the first word you learned in the Dick and Jane books: LOOK!

Thanks right everything we needed to learn is right there in our Kindergarten rules somewhere are all the Golden Rules, from Love to sanitation, even Ecology and politics and equality and sane living.

New Standards of Care could transform trans healthcare: Finally there is a new Standard Care that is educating the doctors and letting them know that we aren't all the same, and they can't treat us all with "One Size Fits All" treatments. Some need more therapy then others, some want surgery some don't, etc. Sounds like this new Standard of Care is covering all these bases..I will be keeping my eyes on this as it moves through the changes!

Will today I am adding to my list of research and objects I am going to be selling via photography business. I want to be able to still do fine art and not be pointing it just at people all the time. So, I came up with being able to sell digital back drops and studio back drops. I can design them on the computer as well as sell my fine art photography as back drops. Now I just have to research how much they go for, and who here locally can print them up the size I need them printed and on the fabric I would need them printed on. I pretty sure I have a printer who can, but I want to make sure so I can come up with a price list.

I also want to make sure he can work with raw format as that would be the best format to get the highest quality of picture. Below is two of the pictures I manipulated in Photoshop with digital backdrops that I created. If anyone is interested in a CD of digital backdrops let me know.

I thought I would post my bio here for you:

TrintonGarrett is an international award winning and published photographer. He livesin Buffalo, NY before that he lived in various other areas, Brooklyn, NY,Dunkirk NY, Oklahoma, and Canada.

Trintonspecializes in fine art photography and uses photography as a means of creativityand artistic expression. It has led him to work on several different projects “NightLights” which he exhibited in Buffalo, NY last year. Another project he is working on at themoment is titled “Faces of Diversity”. His newest adventure he is looking into and researching is turning his fine art photography shots into back drops for the studio.

Trintonalso has recently rented a photography studio and has decided to work part timeas an associate photographer with another local NY photographer, in order tolearn new techniques he has yet to master.

WhenTrinton works with clients he strives to capture the essence of his clients’personalities through the photos he takes for them. In North America, senior portraits are formal portraits taken of students at the beginning of theirsenior year of high school.

Traditional

Formal senior portraits, in and of themselves, date back at least to the 1920s. However, in more recent decades, the convention has been to feature male students in tuxedo jackets and female students in a silk or fur drape and a pearl necklace which is meant to simulate the appearance of a formal gown.

In some schools a portrait studio is invited to the school to ensure all senior portraits (for the yearbook) are similar in pose and style, and so that students who cannot afford to purchase these portraits on their own or choose not to purchase portraits will appear in the yearbook the same as other students. Other schools allow students to choose a studio and submit portraits on their own.

Some traditional senior portrait sittings include a cap and gown and other changes of clothing, portrait styles and poses.

At TrinityHawk Photography we go with the theme that the Senior should bring their own personification with them to the shoot. I work to make the shoot their's and personify it so that it showcases each senior off as to who they are, be it with their instrument of choice, skateboard, paint can's if they are an artist, or if they want their pet, or even their best friend. What every the Senior feels would make the shoot more personal and make them at ease.

Hello One and all who reads this blog on a daily or not so daily basis:

Today, a rainy Saturday, has been another day of nursing my cold, drinking lots orange juice and cranberry juice (just to switch things up once in awhile), taking meds to get rid of the nasty cold before it settles in my lungs. But while I do this lovely stuff I also have been having a music war with my neighbors, they play their heavy base music and I have been playing Ace of Base and Country to give myself something to drown theirs out and something to work too. Work to you say? What have this sicky been doing? Will I have been editing a family portrait session

I have also been researching local pet stores to contact about possibly doing pet portraits this holiday season.

I also took a little break and played some games on face book *smile*, hey everyone gets a break here and there. Oh yeah can't forget that my cat thinks I am here to be her bed, every chance she gets she is pushing my lap top to the side and curling up on my lap.

U Turn In Life

As you see the blog has undergone some changes, let me know what you think of them. Today has been a slow day as I have slept most of a it away. I seem to have caught a cold due to the fibro flare lowering my immune system and the stress of losing my job and my life taking a dramatic U turn.

I am not unhappy about the U turn but anyone who goes though a dramatic U turn in their life unexpectantly gets a form of emotional or even spiritual whip lash.

I am treating myself with as much rest as possible to give my system a time to catch up and loading it down with Vitamin C and other needed nutritious needs in my system to get past this cold soon. I did get some editing done and ready to move on almost to the next batch of photos.

I am also going to be researching and sending some emails and making some phone calls out to local pet stores and see if I can set up pet portrait sessions for the holidays.

Ok back to the editing .....

One More Step Forward!

Ran a few errands with the SO today, then had a meeting which went really well, and I have made yet another step forward in making this business less freelance and more full fledge business, because I now have the use of a studio for my photography, plus I will be assisting another photographer with her work when she is in need of an assistant and learning more of the trade, from pricing to editing and everything in between. I am looking forward to working with/for this photographer. I do believe my life is about to get very busy, not that I am going to complain about this one iota.

Tonight my SO and I are about to head out to a Coming Out Potluck get together.

Today has been good.

Face of Diversity

I have been receiving a lot of questions about what my project is that is titled "Faces of Diversity". My project is to photography the human race in all its' glory, or as some people would say in all its' Freakish Glory. Except I am not just photographing those who are blatantly different, I am photography those who have a disability, those of a different race, those who do consider themselves freaks, those who have tattoos, those who love piercings, those who for what ever reason just are considered cast offs. Plus, I am collecting a few words from each one of these individuals on what diversity is to them, how it has affected their lives (positively or negatively).

I have taken pictures of babies, teens, the elderly and everyone in between. This project does not single out any one age group, minority or gender group.

"Marked"

One of the persons that I photographed and interviewed was my mother, she was mix breed Native American and went blind in her older age after working hard since she was 15 years of age. She wrote a poem to go with her pictures, so I overlaid a picture of her hands reading braille, a portrait of her, and a poem she wrote called Genocide.

I worked 50 some odd years and paid my taxes,
Then when my health begins to fail,
You begin to take my rights away,
You tell me I make to much for any help.

Yet: I can't make enough to pay for them myself!
I must choose between eating and taking life giving medicine!
My eyesight goes and I so does my ability to drive myself around,
Yet: you tell me I don't qualify for healthcare?

Perhaps...you are practicing a type of genocide?

My goal for this project when in completion or at least when near completion will be exhibited in different areas around Buffalo, and eventually Nation Wide. But, my long term goal is to turn the photos and the quotes, statements, and poems I gather into a book which will be published and sold in book stores and online, with 10% of the proceeds going to Hospis and Cancer Charity.

I want to educate and boost awareness about diversity in this word, that we may all be different but we really are just one Human Race. We all feel, We all Bleed, We all face a lot of the same hardships. That hardship may take on different faces for each of us but it is still a hardship and no matter what our diversity is be the fact that I have blue eyes and am slightly heavy and you the reader have green eyes and are skinny. We are not really all that different because we all started out in this world the same way, and we all will end up returning to the Earth.

Slow Day Dragging

Today has been a rather slow day, or so it seems. I feel like I got a lot more done Saturday and Sunday. Today I got the Vacuuming done, Dishes done, I applied for Unemployment - but was told I would have to call their to toll free number Wed during their business hours to finish the process. Then I Emailed head of the Fine Art Department at UB about Auditing classes and refreshing my skills in dark room editing. I also did some editing of photographs today.

Then updated my blog so you will notice some new options on here: You can share any of my posts on any of your social sites, facebook, twitter, google+, etc. You can also click Funny, Cool, or Amazing and rate my posts or pictures if I have posted a picture, along with making a comment and becoming interactive with the thread.

I got fired Friday from my "day job". I have had such an amazing out reach of support and offer of help in one way or another I truly am over whelmed by it all.

Everyone keeps saying when one door closes another window opens, to just stay positive. Will let me tell you at this point, just two days later I am in agreement with a family member of mine who stated this morning: Forget the window, the Great Spirit blew a wall wide open to for me with some c4.

S/He apparently did not want me to misunderstand or not notice her/his window of opportunity so he made it quite obvious which direction I should be looking for my next direction in life.

SO...I am keeping my anxiety in check and taking a GIANT step forward with my Photography business and taking it from freelance into a full fledged business.

With this said, I need to find a studio space.

Does anyone know of small space that is for rent that can be used for a studio in the Buffalo area - allen town, Elmwood, Main street area, Utica area any where around there, Even over around Porter or Niagara St area?

Unbelievable

I know I have been slacking but I have been working late at the "day job" and then working when I get home to edit pictures for my photography clients. Will what do I get but a message from my new photography website www.trinityhawk.com and that message is from my ex wife!!!

Now understand this, she had to of gone looking for me because this is a brand new website, one that is not advertised on the search engines yet (I know I tried to find my website). With out putting in VERY SPECIFIC details you aren't going to find my website. So, Ms EX finds it, looks through my site and sends me a message to take "ALL her cats pictures down". 1. All consist of 3 2. I own the copy right of said pictures 3. she doesn't even own said cat any longer, from what I was told.

So, now I am working two jobs, helping plan a wedding, plus now what to do with this situation....

Triggered Thought

It is amazing sometimes what can trigger a wondering thought or just a memory. It could be a look from someone, a word, a picture, a song, or even a quote. Tonight I was looking through some friend's pictures and rang across a picture of a plaque and on that plaque was a quote that opened a flood gate of memories that was like a old movie reel in my brain of my mother and her old sayings.

This one was; Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intentions of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming, "WHOO HOO WHAT A RIDE!"

Yet, my mother use to add to this saying by saying; "I am going to go sliding into the grave with a cup of coffee in one hand, a cigarette in the other hand, screaming WHOO HOO WHAT A RIDE!"

She pretty much did it too as she had us sneaking coffee into her nursing home and even the nurses would sneak her coffee and the night she died she was listening to Ac/Dc.

I loved my mom more then anyone in this world and she was the greatest mentor a person could ever ask for. I am glad for these memories and flood gates of movie reels to play back in my mind when ever the flood gates open.

How about sharing some of your memories, or moments when the movie reels play in your head, or quotes you remember from your parents.

While you do that I have to go finish some cakes I started. Something else I learned from my mother.

Slaves or No Slaves

I was reading an article about the celebration by the Cherokee people this Sept which they mark the Trail of Tears with. They mark the holiday as the signing of its first constitution after the Trail of Tears in 1839.

The article goes on to stay this holiday generally draws tens of thousands of people to Tahlequah, Okla., the heart of the Cherokee Nation. However, this year it was marked by controversy and protests. and in my opinion for very good reason.

The article went on to talk about the fact that The Cherokee Nation recently decided to limit its membership to people who can prove they have Indian blood. Then it accused the Cherokee Nation of stripping many citizens of their citizenship rights, and that 2,800 African-Americans who are descendants of slaves once owned by wealthy Cherokees.

Ok, first of all - There is NO such thing as a wealthy native american, second of all Cherokee's did NOT own slaves!

So, who ever wrote the articule needs to do his research a little bit!

Spiritual Thoughts

I am reading a book called "The Celestine Prophecy" which is very fascinating at this point and is bring back a lot of what I studied growing up with my spiritual teacher and my mother. Plus, what I studied in school when I studied religions. There are more tings to this life than we know, and there are signs that come to those who know how to receive them. We just have to be open to them, and be welling to know how to receive them.

I have received messages in dreams, with in songs, with in lines of books, with in simple words that friends have spoken, or even a glancing thought that grazed my mind through out the day.

Or when two people speak the same thing at the same time frequently - Its like they are on the same wave length.

Have any of you had any of these experiences? What is your thought about it?

Promises.. what do they mean?

We know we aren't promised our next breath, much less tomorrow, why say and do things thinking you can make it right tomorrow, what if tomorrow never comes? Why make promises if you don't know for sure you can't keep them. Especially to little children who don't understand that there maybe a possibility that a promise like never is just a word that doesn't mean infinity.

Not only do people do people go through life doing things that they figure "oh I will just make up for it tomorrow. I will spend that time with that loved one at the end of the week, I have a better offer, or something much more important to do today." with out thinking about the real possibility that tomorrow may not come - That the end of the week may not see the sun rise. There are also so many words people use way to lightly, they toss them around like they are white flags to sooth hard feelings but with no emotions or true feelings or meaning behind them, thinking they can sooth the situation over and have time to make up for using the words later - I promise, Trust me, I would never, I am sorry.

What is your thought on this subject? Do you feel people use words to freely? Do you use them to freely? Do you take tomorrow for granted?

Communication, one of the most important parts of any relationship be it just between friends or between lovers. If communcation isn't part of a relationship then the relationship isn't going to be a smooth one because so many times those who aren't communicating end up having misunderstandings.

I have watched and talked to so many different couples who have three different unhealthy ways of communicating

Either they aren't talking and communicating at all,

Or they are talking AT each other, not actually talking with and to each other.

Or there is one partner who doing all the talking and the other is being dragged with the communication, along like pulling a tooth.

These three ways of communicating each steam from four different types and styles of communications which style do you use most often?

Passive Communication

The passive communicator has difficulty expressing their thoughts and feelings. They tend to hold concerns in and hope things will get better. Since it is difficult for them to express their needs, they prefer their loved ones to read their mind and understand what is wrong. This person can often be perceived as shy. They are hesitant to express their feelings since it risks the other person getting upset with them and potentially starting a fight.

Aggressive Communication

The aggressive communicator is able to express their thoughts and feelings; however they do so by offending people and not being respectful of others' rights. They tend to lack limits or boundaries with others and have a need to be in control of their surroundings or relationships.

Passive-Aggressive Communication

Most people tend to be passive-aggressive. They have difficulty expressing their thoughts and feelings clearly. They get their point across through sarcasm or through behavior, rather than speaking directly about their concerns and needs. As someone on the receiving end of a passive/aggressive communicator, you find yourself trying to read between the lines most of the time. Similar to the passive person, they don’t want to cause any problems within the relationship, but they want the other person to know what they did wrong or how they were hurtful. The way they communicate is often vague and mixed with humor or sarcasm. If their point isn’t being understood through indirect means, frustration often leads them to aggressive communication styles, which is offensive and disrespectful in the process.

Assertive Communication

The assertive communicator is able to express thoughts and feelings clearly and directly, yet they are mindful of not being disrespectful. This does not mean when you are assertive that the other person may not get hurt or upset, however, communication is very respectful. The goal is to understand each other, not to prove that one is right and the other is wrong. It’s a win/win communication style. Assertive communication is done openly and often so concerns don’t get bottled up, which typically leads to an explosion later on. The assertive person is direct, thus reducing the likelihood of assumptions being made by the other person who is trying to determine the meaning from what was being stated.

The goal of healthy communication is keeping the line of communication open at all times. Remain Truthful and respectful, while expressing your thoughts and feelings. You also want to be open to hearing feedback and concerns from the other person.

Remember:

- speaking from your own experience and using “I” statements
- acknowledge the other person's emotions and by paraphrasing what they have stated and letting them know you have heard what they have said to you. (never assume you know what they are saying or want unless you truly understand what it is they want/need).
- stating what you want respectfully (never override what another person is saying.)
- knowing some alternatives or compromises to what you want may be needed, it isn't always about what YOU want and only what YOU want.

It’s also important to stay away from absolute words and statements that tend to create defensiveness in others. These include: always, never, everyone, no one, I told you so, you should have, could have, would have, etc. Also refrain from giving advice and starting a sentence with “You.”

911 - 10 years - Healing

I didn't post yesterday, I was very busy but also because I had so much in my mind I had to get it all worked out. I have been thinking of that faithful day 10 years ago on Sept 11Th, all the people who faced the dark, smokey war zone that once was the Twin Towers, the people who stood their ground and were the hero's of Flight 93, and the people who were left behind how they were touched and left with post traumatic distress disorder of one way or another. Then of course there are those who didn't seem to be phased by it at all, and I wonder how they could of gone unphased by such a horrible gut wrenching life changing event as Sept 11Th was.

Myself? I get a knot in my gut every time I think of that day and the fact that in less then 2 hours there was 2,998 innocent people dead. I am so proud of those who were on Flight 93 of all those who were first responders to the war zone called Twin Towers, and of every individual who put themselves out through out the time of rescue afterwards. Those who sent can goods, blankets, toothbrushes, what ever over to the armed forces while they served to help look for the messing and to clean up. My daughter's other parent was one of those individuals who was apart of the armed forces who went to NYC to help out. I knew others, as well. I also knew civilians who picked up, took vacations, and went to NYC just to help out, or pray with the families and provide support. I am so proud of those people and for this Country for showing that we do know what "neighborly" means.

Yet, there are those who are unaffected and were unaffected even while it was going on. I remember working at a local get and go store and they were talking about over the news how they were speaking about the possibility of a plane heading this direction and they were naming several different areas, cause they weren't really sure what the target might be. Because of this and the already war zone in NYC the plane down in Pennsylvania, almost everyone was ducking anytime a plane flew over head especially if it was flying what they thought as to low. Yet, as I stated there were those who were unaffected and laughing about the thought of a plane coming to our area, about people ducking. Maybe that is the way they dealt with the horrible traumatic distress that was all around us or perhaps some how, they truly were not effected. If that is the case, I wish I knew how they managed it, because I felt jumpy and broken inside for so long.

As a healer I felt torn between the healer and the warrior. I wanted to understand why someone would do such a disturbing thing, and to heal all those in need. Yet, I also wanted to RAGE against such unneeded destruction and killing. I even verged for the first time in my life on wanting revenge (and I have been through much in my life). If I had been young enough I might of even joined the armed forces myself. The Warrior with myself was defiantly over taking the healer at this point. I had to do much meditating.

I have healed considerably, but every time I think of that day and all those who were effected - part of me wants to cry out. Because really it wasn't about "this country against this country" IN MY OPINION

This is all about freedom and pride us afraid we will lose our freedom, and them fighting to keep their freedom and not have to depend on another country for support which to me is yet another - a screwed version of freedom- but Iraq, Afghanistan, etc ANYONE has the right to pray, live, and die anyway they choose.

These "gentleman" who did the highjacking - they had no freedom - if they did not join up with the "army" they or their families would die anyway, they were told the US were their enemies. Each one was told something that was untrue to get them to agree to do this which killed way to many innocents as well as themselves (not saying they were innocent but they did die). The killing didn't end there, their own people have died. Their "ways" have started to die and now new ways have begun to take their place, and many more of our own soldiers have died and are still serving over there.

How many more people are going to have to die before it ends!!

I have been talking to a lot of friends about relationships, as well as, reading about them in the books. I just finished reading one called 'Virtually Yours' which was really interesting. 'Virtually Yours' was two people emailing back and forth and developed a type of relationship through email correspondence. So, the question is, what makes a good relationship? Is there such a thing as a perfect relationship? If there is what makes up a perfect or even a good relationship?

Will in my opinion there is no such thing as the PERFECT relationship. There are good and even great relationships. If your relationship runs smoothly then that is wonderful, when it isn't running smoothly that is when you might want to step back and wonder what isn't working right.

A relationship needs to be built on respect and honor along with trust. Then where ever you go from there in your relationship is between those with in the relationship. I also believe that there should not be any secrets kept, always be open and honest.

A relationship is like any thing else it takes work on both sides to keep the relationship running smoothly. Remember how you put out the effort when you were dating, you communicated with each other, you brought roses not just when you did something wrong , surprises, sweet notes, sweet cuddling, will continue those nights even if you have to fight to make time. On top of remembering Respect, Honor and Trust. This will continue to keep things new and build a relationship that is running smooth and a relationship that is not perfect but is a good one.

Mini Lens Shot Glasses!!

OMG! I want a set of these!

I Was looking through other blogs, and ran across a set of mini kiln set ceramic shot glasses which look like mini camera lenses!!! They look like real camera lens down to the teeny raised numbers, the focus-ring ridge, and the wee auto/manual focus switch.

Don't want to use them for shot glasses, or sip espresso from them? So, since they come in threes use them for storage and stash your memory cards in one, make another into a tiny planter, and store your paper clips in the third one.

I myself would love to buy two sets one for shots, one for storage on my desk!!!
